"We are very excited to launch our innovative VDE Tec Summit at the new CEBIT and we are confident that the event will yield plenty of new insights and ideas," said VDE CEO Ansgar Hinz. Dr. Thomas Becks, the VDE’s Head of Technology and Innovation, agreed: "The focus topics we have chosen for the summit perfectly complement the key themes that will be covered at CEBIT. This will yield powerful synergy benefits for attendees of both events."
"The Tec Summit is a fantastic new initiative by the VDE and further testimony to the enormous appeal the revamped CEBIT holds for our key partners. Our state-of-the-art Convention Center is certainly ideally suited to the summit’s multi-media formats," added Oliver Frese as the responsible member of Deutsche Messe’s Managing Board.
The Tec Summit consists of two main events: "Tec Innovation Tank" and "Tec Meets Science". The content for the various topics covered by the two events is being developed collaboratively by panels of experts in the run-up to the summit. The fully developed content will then be finalized and presented via a range of creative formats during CEBIT.
'Tec Innovation Tank' is all about future-defining technologies and is targeted at students and young professionals, such as those represented by the VDE Young Net organization. Among much else, the event will give participating young people the opportunity to meet companies searching for tomorrow’s recruits. Debate will center on key technologies, such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, cyber security and robotics, and their impact on the energy, manufacturing, mobility, health and lifestyle sectors. Future scenarios will be developed collaboratively by all participants in the course of think tanks, creative workshops and creative labs. To add further momentum to the proceedings, the organizer has invited representatives from the high-tech maker scene to contribute their low-cost robotics and Raspberry Pi expertise.
Want to know what the world will be like in five to seven years' time? At Tec Meets Science, research scientists from universities, research institutes and companies will get together to answer precisely that question – an ambitious endeavor, given the pace of technological development and the enormous complexity of the world even today. The dialogue at Tec Meets Science will focus on intelligent automation, artificial intelligence, mixed reality, the future of ICT, smart data and cyber security.
Oliver Frese, member of Deutsche Messe’s Managing Board: "CEBIT’s new format, strong business focus and comprehensive coverage of the most important digital innovation themes have greatly broadened the show’s appeal and extended its reach to completely new target audiences. Similarly, our partnership with the VDE has further boosted the wealth of content and ideas our visitors can expect to find in Hannover this June."
The new-look CEBIT will kick off on Monday, 11 June, with a program of events for journalists and conference attendees. From Tuesday, 12 June, the exhibition halls and the d!campus in the heart of the Hannover Exhibition Center will open to the public. The VDE Tec Summit will commence on Thursday 14 June at the Convention Center (CC). Friday, 15 June, is the final day for both CEBIT and the VDE Tec Summit.
