Humanoid Robots

The warrior and the waiter

The startup company Richtungwest is showcasing a very "odd couple" of robots at CEBIT 2018. While GANKER specializes in pounding its rivals, cousin PuduBot serves refreshments to guests.

You simply can't beat humanoid robots for drawing a crowd, although their resemblance to people is often open to debate. While their stationary, one-armed relations have long since joined the workforce in factory halls all over the world, many humanoid robots remain stuck in their infancy - playing soccer, clambering over hurdles or battling it out with their rivals. GANKER, which the startup Richtungwest is unveiling at CEBIT 2018, is clearly a warrior. However, the importer of entertainment robots from the Far East also has one of the "grown-ups" on board.

PuduBot is a bona fide service robot. What he lacks in human-like features, he more than makes up for with useful abilities, unlike his robot-bashing stablemate. PuduBot can mingle adeptly in crowds, which makes him a dab hand at helping human waiters serve and clear away food and drinks. The manufacturer believes his career prospects extend beyond restaurant work to waiting at corporate events and parties.
