The fast-growing eSports market is already worth hundreds of millions of euros, and today’s top eSports athletes are celebrities who regularly fill major venues to capacity. That’s why the organizers of CEBIT are delighted to be co-hosting the stand-alone TEK Summer Festival (#tsf18) in 2018.
The four-day festival for gamers and non-gamers, which is organized by Advanced TEK GmbH, kicks off on Thursday 14 June at the Hannover Exhibition Center. It will feature some 5,000 LAN seats, a range of indoor and outdoor activities and a big lineup of gaming, eSports and cultural events.
With its mix of discussion and networking forums and competitions, the festival is targeted at industry professionals and eSports/gaming enthusiasts as well as at hobby and professional gaming and xVR developers. A particular highlight will be the festival’s game and VR jams, where hobby developers are given a very short space of time to create virtual worlds or even entire games. There will be prizes for the best projects. All participants will have access to the latest tools used by professional game developers and the opportunity to consult directly with the manufacturers.
The organizers are currently working on further expanding the festival offering to include even more great events, such as game talks, fun areas, obstacle courses, a grand opening featuring VIP artists, a light and pyro show, some of the big stars from Europe’s gaming and streaming scene, and the TGL final. The TGL (TEK Gaming League) is a new eSports competition in which teams of “League of Legends” and “Counter Strike” players vie for top honors in both amateur and professional grades. Its first season will run from October 2017 up until #tsf18, which will host the final. The prize pool for the entire season is worth over 100,000 euros, and the entire event will be streamed live.
Tickets to the TEK Summer Festival, which runs from Thursday 14 June to Sunday 17 June, cost 25 euros and are also valid for admission to CEBIT on Friday 15 June.
