Communication, entertainment, heating and light control combined with safety - aren't these features the be all and end all of any smart home? Wrong! The greatest potential for smartening up our domestic lives surely lies in our kitchens, with their numerous technical devices that simply cry out to be intelligently networked. After all, for years the pin-up for the futuristic Internet of Things was the self-restocking refrigerator. Of course, companies involved in both lines of business spotted this link from the start and have long been working on suitable solutions. One of them is Korea-based LG, which has just announced its plan to customize its state-of-the-art SIGNATURE KITCHEN SUITE to the requirements of the high-end market in Europe. This move into devices for fitted kitchens signals LG’s desire to expand its firm stronghold in premium free-standing household devices. The marketing campaign for the SIGNATURE KITCHEN SUITE is due to be launched in Italy by the end of this year with the aid of the country's premium kitchen manufacturers Valcucine and Arclinea, with further key European markets following suit down the line.
The new series will include the full range of fitted electrical devices from the word go - from ovens, induction hobs, refrigerators and dishwashers right through to fully automated coffee machines and a series of exclusive refrigerated wine cabinets, which will also be celebrating their debut in Europe. These smart fitted devices will not only have integrated WiFi, but will even be capable of collaborating with AI platforms such as Google Assistant and Amazon's Alexa. This will enable users to start the whole cooking process remotely - such as searching for inspiration in an app that communicates recipes straight to the oven, which can then start pre-heating itself in advance. The right cooking mode can be set and all other cooking processes monitored using a smartphone or tablet. "We are delighted to be launching our SIGNATURE KITCHEN SUITE premium household devices on the extremely discerning European market this year," explains Song Dae-hyun, President of the Home Appliance & Air Solution division of LG Electronics. "We are confident that combining our tried-and-tested smart technology with our high-end electrical devices will score a marketing hit for the eminent European kitchen manufacturers in this category."
