The new Arlo smart home security camera from Netgear is the world's first entirely cable-free system thanks to its integrated rechargeable batteries and Wi-Fi.

20 Feb. 2015

Netgear is showcasing the "cable-free – wire-free – care-free" Arlo smart home security camera at this year's CeBIT in Hannover. The system is the first in the world that really does what it says on the box – a 100 percent cable-free netcam with razor-sharp HD imagery. Netgear’s innovation marks a milestone in property surveillance and offers a simple and convenient aid to security in our own homes – both indoors and out.

The system is a boon for the owners of small shops and kiosks, too, who might be unable or unwilling to invest large sums of money in more elaborate, expensive systems. The Arlo camera combines easy installation, a totally cable-free battery power source (up to 6 months per charge) and water- and weather-resistance (IP65) – all supplied in a handily compact unit that you can install with ease wherever you like, with no need for any external power supply or fiddly cables. What’s more, it even has a night-vision mode for security surveillance in the dark.
