The banking sector is feeling the digital turn in the tide more than almost any other industry. FinTechs are disrupting the market with revolutionary business ideas, customers expect full-scale digital services, and online banking is replacing local branches. Leading banks may have been late to begin the transformation, but they are seizing the initiative.
Deutsche Bank now has its own Digital Factory, where it develops new products and applications for its clients, inspired by creative tech startups from the banking and insurance sector.
In addition to innovation, ongoing operation must be ensured and data control must be safeguarded. To overcome this challenge, the company created its own role: Chief Data Officer. A fusion of business and IT, the Chief Data Officer ensures that data is transformed into knowledge, which can be used to create new services and business models.
In 2015, JP Rangaswami took on this role. The former data scientist at Salesforce brought exactly the right expertise to master the balance between tradition and innovation. "He has the rare talent to recognize how the future should be," says former boss, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff. "He knows how to get there – and he has the passion to make it possible." JP Rangaswami will be sharing his knowledge and passion at CEBIT 2018. Don’t miss his talk on information overload, where he will explain how we can transform digital challenges into opportunities.
