No trend in digitalization has more influence on business models than cloud computing. 61 percent of employees at software and system vendors were convinced of this after CeBIT 2015. Only the mobile internet was rated by those surveyed has having a similarly large effect.
Results from the latest survey by IDG Business Media GmbH show that 95 percent of system vendors already offer private cloud services and 84 percent of service providers have the public cloud in their portfolio. Accordingly, more than half of the system vendors sell infrastructure-as-a-service, software-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service. Six out of ten of those surveyed estimate that sales in IaaS, SaaS and PaaS will increase.
In terms of business customers, the "Cloud Vendor Benchmark 2015" by the Experton Group sees an increased need for consulting in cloud computing. "Cloud computing will be the glue and the basic power behind all economic activity tomorrow," according to the analysts. As indicated by Experton, the market volume of cloud computing in Germany will soar to 9.2 billion euros. The study states that around nine percept of all IT investment will flow into cloud technology, consulting, and services. "The line between public & private cloud models is blurring – the result of the rising number of hybrid clouds or even community clouds," Experton Group discovered. The managed private cloud is also becoming more attractive.
