The logistics demonstrator developed by FIR interconnects IT systems both vertically and horizontally along the entire supply chain and thus provides a solution to interface problems, incorrect feedback, and insufficient data quality, which result in uneconomical processes, insufficient delivery reliability, and unsatisfied customers. As a result of applied research, the demonstrator enables manufacturing companies to get real-time information on where exactly an order is located in the value chain and thus react appropriately in case of unexpected events, such as delays in production or transport. This is what FIR defines as High-Resolution Supply Chain Management, the next step towards Industry 4.0 through the intelligent interconnection of systems.
The Qualicision system from PSI Logistics GmbH lies at the heart of the demonstrator, which, based on a number of KPIs, manages the sequence planning of incoming manufacturing orders. Via EDI interfaces by myOpenFactory Software GmbH, order data are sent in a standardized format, horizontally interconnecting four companies with four different ERP systems. As already used by e.GO Mobile AG, Aachen, Ubisense’s real-time location system technology feeds data on incoming and outgoing goods as well as assembly times automatically back into the ERP systems. Process times derived from the vertical interconnection of planning level and shopfloor serve cost calculation purposes and result in complete transparency of all production orders.
