Hannover. The ERP (enterprise resource planning) sector is a powerhouse of digital transformation and competitiveness for small and medium-sized enterprises. This natural partnership between the ERP sector and SMEs is reflected at CeBIT.
A good 90 percent of the ERP exhibitors who participated at this year’s CeBIT have already registered for CeBIT 2016 (14 to 18 March). And one of the main reasons they’ve been so willing to commit to the show at this early stage is because of the strong turnout by visitors representing SMEs. By way of background, CeBIT’s recent repositioning as a pure B2B event has given a major additional boost to the quality of the show’s visitors. Combined with a range of highly targeted measures on the part of Deutsche Messe, it also elicited a massive 12 percent increase in the number of SME professionals attending this year’s show. And this, in turn, has prompted many exhibitors to get in early and book their stands at CeBIT 2016.
One example of the events and formats is the SME Lounge, which premiered to major visitor acclaim at this year’s show and will feature an enlarged exhibition zone at CeBIT 2016. Another is the well-established ERP Forum, which in 2016 will again be an important meeting hub for SME-sector visitors. The forum is a joint production by Deutsche Messe and its long-standing partner Trovarit AG. The industry associations BITKOM (German Federal Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media) and BITMi (German Federal Association of IT-Sector SMEs) will also once again be on board.
Exhibitor statements (2015)
Carl-Heinz Gödde, Vice President Sales, Asseco Solutions AG; “For us, the repositioning of CeBIT has been a resounding success. It yielded a marked increase in the percentage of professionals among this year’s visitors – including those from the SME sector – and this translated into an improvement in the overall quality of our leads. Our CeBIT showcase this year has proven to be an excellent investment, not least because we have already won the first of what hopefully will be several big contracts as a direct result. We’re looking forward to exhibiting at CeBIT again next year because successful marketing is a long-term investment.”
Walter Elsner, CEO, PCS Systemtechnik GmbH; “This year, PCS received a special award marking its 30th consecutive year as a CeBIT exhibitor. We and our cooperation partners offer an extensive range of solutions in many areas, including production data collection, time management, access control and video surveillance. And, after all these years, CeBIT is still the only trade show where we can present them all under one roof. Its sharpened B2B positioning, including in particular its focus on SMEs in Hall 5, has really paid off for us. With its emphasis on Human Resources and ERP, Hall 5 is the perfect place for PCS to showcase its comprehensive offering for industry, government and commerce. Existing and potential customers actively seek us out at CeBIT. And while the number of visitors at our stand was slightly down from previous years, the quality was definitely there. This year, the majority of the visitors at our stand were IT, HR and CEO-level decision makers with very detailed project inquiries. All in all, it was a successful show that delivered quality leads.”
