Deutsche Bahn “Idea Train”

How will rail companies meet the demands of the future? What do passengers expect from the train travel of tomorrow? What solutions can help tackle the challenges created by autonomous vehicles? Answers to all these questions can be found at Deutsche Bahn AG's stand at CEBIT 2018. The company's Idea Train - a walk-in 1:1 model of a double-decker train car - links visionary interior design concepts with a feel-good atmosphere and a whole host of digital services. Planned ideas range from relaxation and lounge areas, functional entertainment and working spaces right through to a digital fitness studio. CEBIT 2018 visitors have the perfect opportunity to experience the entrance, communal television lounge and multipurpose modules for themselves.

In addition to digitizing the entire rail network, Deutsche Bahn aims to boost capacity for future rail travel and thus offer passengers thousands more trains on a daily basis. Its "Digital Rail Germany" program focuses on expanding the cutting-edge radio-controlled signal technology European Train Control System and introducing digital signal boxes. Another measure to attract new customers and retain existing ones is the "Komfort Check-in" option integrated into the DB Navigator app for passengers traveling with a mobile or online ticket who have reserved a seat. Customers sit in their allocated seats, check in with their smartphone and validate their digital ticket at the touch of a button - thereby replacing the ticket inspection process. Other innovative ideas and solutions on show in Hannover include platform edge lighting and sensor-controlled remote monitoring of station clocks.
