11 Oct. 2018

Hannover. Hannover/Bangkok/Foshan. The next CEBIT in Hannover, Germany – Europe's leading digital event – won't be staged until the summer of 2019, but CEBIT is about to treat Asia to a double-header fall season. First up is CEBIT Asean, which premieres in Bangkok, Thailand, from 18 to 20 October, followed swiftly by Internet + powered by CEBIT in Foshan, in China's Guangdong Province, from 24 to 27 October. "These Asian offshoots of the CEBIT family are the next step in our successful CEBIT remake. They are taking the strong reputation of the CEBIT brand to Asia, in line with the specific needs of the Asian market. We and our partners in Asia are committed to staging winning events with the power to take digitization to new heights internationally,” commented Marius Felzmann, Deutsche Messe's Senior Vice President CEBIT Worldwide Events.

Premiere of CEBIT Asean in Bangkok

Deutsche Messe and Thai provider Impact Exhibitions are partnering for the very first time to stage CEBIT Asean, a digital event that is geared specifically to the requirements of Southeast Asian nations. Thailand's government is committed to pushing ahead with the digitization of the Thai economy, and is therefore actively supporting the new CEBIT Asean event via both its Ministry of Digital Economy and Society and its Ministry of Science and Technology. In fact, one of the speakers at the opening ceremony on the first day of the show is the Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj.

Held at the Impact Exhibition and Convention Center in Bangkok, CEBIT Asean is based on the structure of the revamped CEBIT show in Hannover, Germany, in that it comprises three key components: exhibition, conference and festival. And, like its Hannover parent, it spans a wide array of themes, including communications, network infrastructure and security, business solutions, and emerging technologies such as AR/VR, robotics and 3D printing. The show will feature a number of big-name exhibitors, such as Microsoft, Rittal, China Mobile, NTT and Logitech, and comprises several major highlights, including the Cyber Security Conference on 18 and 19 October, where some 300 government and digital industry representatives will gather to discuss current and emerging cyber security threats and ways of countering them.
