Osram and its partners are investing $ 2.85 million in MotorLeaf via its Fluxunit venture capital unit. The Quebec-based company develops the Agronomist.ai software and hardware sensors for forecasting crop yields in the greenhouse and indoor farming sector. Agrnomist.ai is an AI solution that uses data-based machine learning to, for example, analyze weather forecasts and calculate the effects of weather on plant growth or the occurrence of disease. The data is evaluated by HEART, a box developed by MotorLeaf, which monitors temperature, humidity and incident light while keeping track of the entire greenhouse via connections to various sensors. Overall, the MotorLeaf solution is designed to reduce crop losses and reduce errors in yield forecasts.

Osram also manufactures plant breeding lamps and has invested in the Munich greenhouse startup Agrilution since last year.
