Analyses suggest that the value of global construction in 2025 will be around $15 trillion, compared to around $9 trillion currently. The strong growth is already driving construction companies to automate administrative processes and provide customers with self-service tools to meet demand without a larger sales force.
This is the finding of a recent study by Sana Commerce . The Viennese webshop provider has interviewed 300 B2B organizations worldwide. It shows that the construction industry is pioneering the use of new technologies. Three quarters of the industry have a clear strategy for digital transformation as compared with only 63% of all respondents. 80% of building contractors expect that Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) technologies will be critical for automated and predictive sales and customer service orders in the future, whereas out of all B2B companies surveyed, only 68% expect this. In the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), as many as 91% of the construction companies surveyed assume that they will be selling their entire product portfolio online in the future. One third of them will soon be offering their products via mobile apps as well.
