Audi is pushing ahead with virtual test drives

Vehicle manufacturer Audi wants to offer potential customers virtual test drives with the "Audi VR experience". The cars can be configured according to customer requirements.

Audi is expanding its "Audi VR experience" digital sales solution internationally. In cooperation with the supply chain management service provider Arvato , a Bertelsmann subsidiary, the first car dealerships in Germany, Belgium, France, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Great Britain, Spain and Canada have been equipped with VR glasses, and other countries will soon follow suit. Potential car buyers can thus have the model configured to their wishes in a virtual 3D environment as early as during the consultation. About 700 dealer modules had already been delivered by the end of 2017, of which around 200 were in Germany.

Virtual reality has long been used in other industries as promotional support. For example, numerous travel agencies attract customers with a virtual view of the dream destination , Ebay has opened its first "virtual branch" in Australia, and prospective buyers can increasingly get a first impression via virtual reality when viewing properties .
