540 million euros this year, six billion euros by 2020: German companies are missing out on these sums because they are not tapping into the potential of automated workflows in digitization. The " Cloud Automation Excellence " study, carried out by Crisp Research commissioned by IT service provider Nexinto and IT company Hewlett Packard, has reached the same conclusion. Based on a representative survey among decision-makers in 155 German companies from twelve industry segments,

this study asserts that only 6% of companies have achieved integrated automation. But this is set to change soon: By 2020, the surveyed decision makers hope to increase the degree of automation in their companies from 37 to 44.3%.

Even so, experts from the World Economic Forum take issue with such ambitious goals: According to their forecastth e hidden price of automation could be the loss of five million jobs.
