Rittal is one of the world’s leading system providers for enclosures, power distribution, climate control, IT infrastructure, software and services. Its system solutions cater to a whole host of sectors – primarily machinery and plant engineering, energy production, information technology and the automotive industry. Boasting around 10,000 employees and 58 subsidiaries worldwide, Rittal has undoubtedly earned its title as a global player. Its wide-ranging portfolio includes infrastructure solutions for modular and energy-efficient datacenters featuring innovative security methods for physical data and system backups. After the LMD opened in Norway in May 2017, Rittal is now operating possibly the most secure, cost-efficient, flexible and environmentally friendly datacenter in Europe.
Visitors to CEBIT 2018 can discover more about this pioneering datacenter at the Rittal stand. The LMD, which currently spans 12 hectares on the west coast of Norway, is powered exclusively using renewable energy. The modular datacenter solution located in a disused mine also enables IT systems to be used highly flexibly with a wide range of models such as Colocation, Private Cloud, ITaaS (IT Infrastructure as a Service) and DCaaS (Datacenter as a Service). While the large surface area and modular design significantly shorten time-to-market, the combination of economical and renewable energy is designed to ensure costs are predictable and affordable.
