Cross Domain Technology for Smart-Systems
WS4D Web Services for Devices Technology (see www.ws4d.org) developed at the University of Rostock establishes the basis for a comprehensive middleware to connect existing and future heterogeneous device ensembles. WS4D enables use of Web Services on resources-constrained devices including wireless sensor network nodes. WS4D offers software solutions that implement the recently approved OASIS standard Devices Profile for Web Services (DPWS).
WS4D is a basic technology for the Internet of Things:
- intelligent service based networking of devices
- fully compatible to Windows 7, .NET Micro Framework
- implementation of the OASIS DPWS Standard
- developer tools for C/C++ and Java
- universal tools for the composition of device mashups (WS4D-Pipes)
- fully Open Source.
The Institute of Applied Microelectronics and Computer Engineering received numerous awards for its successful work on this domain since the year 2006:
- ITEA Achievement Award 2006 for the ITEA/BMBF Project SIRENA
- ITEA Achievement Award 2008 for the ITEA/BMBF Project LOMS
- Award winner (4-th place of 64, 20.000 €) in venturesail-competition 2006 in the category "Research team" for the project SINUS
- Award winner for the excellency project DYCONES within the scope of the excellency support program EFP-MV 2006 (50.000 €)
- Award winner (3-rd place, 70.000 €) in ventureCup-competition 2009 for the category "Junior Researcher"
