Sharing networks are growing in popularity, as is the notion that sharing knowledge is generally a smart idea. Companies that pick up on this trend at an early stage and integrate it into their business strategy are likely to be more successful. Social enterprise models are certainly very "cutting edge" at present, and companies that foster sharing with and among their employees, customers and partners have tended to outperform their rivals by several orders of magnitude.
While the recent proliferation of social networks and mobile terminal devices has done much to drive this trend, the question remains: "Why is sharing so popular?" The answer is as simple as it is obvious: modern sharing models help people and companies to make the best possible use of existing resources and to save money.
