As the technology for speech recognition and searches improves, use of this convenient technology is rising as well. Sundar Pichai claims that 20 percent of all search queries on smartphones conducted via the Google app were entered using voice command. One interesting finding: 50 percent of all search queries originated on mobile devices.
The popularity of voice recognition on smartphones should hardly surprise, since it's quicker than trying to type in queries word by word using a mini software keyboard. Another aspect is clearly the significant improvements of late to the reliability of voice searches. Pichai addressed this point at the I/O 2016 as well, underscoring that Google has worked hard to perfect the technologies involved.
