To survive increasingly tough competition, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are well advised to use their people as carefully and efficiently as possible. But how can businesses best maintain an overview of who has the necessary skills and abilities? It was this question that led a team at TU Braunschweig to develop Kompetenz-Navi, a solution that is almost ready for its market launch and is on show at CeBIT 2017 in Hannover.
Kompetenz-Navi is a web-based diagnostics tool that SMEs such as workshops and service providers can use to quickly identify their employees’ skills and evaluate them transparently. Given the speed at which trends can change these days, this tool offers valuable assistance by ensuring companies can get a head-start in identifying any gaps in HR development and then plug those gaps by training the right people in the right skills. What’s more, the tool can be made even more relevant by incorporating specific skills models that help customize it for the relevant needs of the company. As a web-based solution, it also has the advantage that it can be used on all end devices, regardless of their platform. Despite its extensive functionality, Kompetenz-Navi features simple menu navigation, so that even completely inexperienced users have no problem coming to grips with it.
