VR and AR among the most exciting technology trends in 2017. The national and international scene will meet in Hanover from March 20–24, in order to discuss different application scenarios from virtual and augmented reality to mixed reality, all the way through to 360º film and video from the perspective of science, business, and industry. An extensive conference program with international experts and users, workshops for VR developers, a 3,000 square meter playground, and numerous networking events await visitors in Hall 17.

On the conference stage of the virtual and augmented reality topic venues, international spokespersons discuss the entire range of immersive technologies. For example, with a focus on "Industry, Healthcare, Education, and Engineering" Ray Guilliard, head of the Virtual Reality Center at Mercedes-Benz Cars, will report on deployment of the technology in vehicle development on Monday. Other program items include the international virtual and augmented reality start-ups of the incubator VR Base on Tuesday (March 21) and the main topic "Gaming & Arts" on Friday (March 24).

The special highlight with regard to the topic will be the HACKVENTION Creative Lab: From March 22–23, the hacker and developer community will meet in Hall 17 in order to develop ideas for future applications and network with companies as well as hardware and software manufacturers. On Wednesday (March 22) the conference program of the national and international scene will offer the opportunity to exchange information about developments in the scene in formats such as the "Hackathon Roundtable" and "Meet the Meet-ups."

"Fire together, wire together" is the slogan of the Creative Lab on Thursday (March 23). In a revolving procedure and with the help of the developer community, corporate ideas will be developed into marketable concepts and implemented in cooperation with hardware and software manufacturers at HACKVENTION in Hanover. The conclusion of the Creative Lab will be the Upload VR Party on Thursday evening – the international virtual reality magazine Upload VR from Silicon Valley invites all technology enthusiasts to a party with easy beats, the finest drinks, and tasty snacks.

Deutsche Messe AG aims to not only present this fascinating technology on the event premises, but also to assist in shaping it as well. Thus, for the very first time it will provide CeBIT exhibitors with the possibility of using virtual and augmented reality in order to preserve their stands in a virtual showroom – beyond the trade exhibition.
