There are a wide range of factors for digitization among companies' different organizational units. That is the result of a survey performed by software provider D.velop with over 1000 companies from ten sectors of the economy. In most companies, sales and marketing are counted as drivers of digitalization, while those responsible in purchasing, production and product development tend to be critical of digital development.

In addition to the financial, commercial and information technology sectors, the survey of 1143 German companies with a turnover of more than 25 million euros also examined the automotive industry, mechanical engineering, chemical/pharmaceutical and electronics industries. Logistics, supply and media operations were also among the business sectors analyzed within the "Branch Atlas of Digital Transformation".
