Message from Angela Merkel

Message from Federal Chancellor Merkel on the occasion of the CeBIT and the CeBIT Global Conferences 2015.

05 Feb. 2015
Chancellor Angela Merkel

The CeBIT has proven itself to be a reliable constant in our fast-paced age of information technology. For nearly 30 years now, numerous global firms, SMEs and start-ups have come to Hannover to showcase their companies and innovations. As a display window, market place or forum, the CeBIT has long been established as the world’s most important digital business fair.

d!conomy – the motto of the CeBIT in 2015 encapsulates this, for it describes no less than the far-reaching revolution caused by digital transformation, which is impacting nearly all areas of life and work in our economy and society. On a daily basis, the Internet of Things and extensive networking advance the development of new business models, procedures and products. Big data, cloud computing, smart services, social business, data security and much more – these key words represent great challenges as well as great opportunities, especially for a classic centre of industry like Germany. The CeBIT is an impressive display of how these challenges can be overcome and how the opportunities can be seized.

The CeBIT's partner country for 2015 is China – an internationally successful IT nation. The presence of more than 600 Chinese technology companies at the CeBIT highlights the closeness of German-Chinese cooperation.

I would like to warmly welcome our guests from China as well as those from many other countries in the world to Germany. And I wish all exhibitors and visitors a successful, informative and very beneficial CeBIT in 2015.
