Handling invoices electronically saves large companies a lot of time and money. The ZUGFeRD standard ensures that SMEs can also benefit. But they are still hesitating.
"It’s high time for companies that haven’t transferred from traditional paper-based invoices to electronic formats to do it," says Frank Früh, Head of Enterprise Content Management at Bitkom. "Large businesses are gradually implementing digital, paperless offices using ECM systems. However," says Früh, "SMEs need to catch up." According to him, the ZUGFeRD standard developed by Bitkom enables SMEs to take advantage now of electronic invoices and save considerable costs. "In addition, we would like to be able to approve our invoices using laptops and smartphones while we are on the go and not have to take piles of paper home with us," says Früh.
Companies are faced with the challenge of having to electronically integrate invoices from different channels. The continued goal is to exclude paper documents from the next stage in the process and consequently destroy them. Digital invoices should therefore comply with fiscal regulations for retention periods and secure input tax deductions. Ideally, one should be able to use a standard process to handle invoices and manage them with the proper system.
At CeBIT 2016 electronic invoice processing, e-invoices and the ZUGFeRD standard are being showcased in Hall 3, where everything revolves around electronic offices and Enterprise Content Management. Bitkom can be found at a group pavilion at the " ECM/Input-/Output Solutions " cluster. At the "ECM Solutions Park" Bitkom members are displaying a wide range of solutions for integrated document workflow in businesses.
"Invoices pay off" is one of the six key themes at the CeBIT ECM Forum . The presentations in this topic group describe how to optimize invoicing using ECM software – from scanning to approval, payment and filing. Experts will be giving concrete tips at their stands on how to deal with invoices and how to save time and money using the latest ECM systems.
