Reliable scheduling. Optimal use of production capacity. Stock levels under control.
These days, customers are demanding increasingly tailored products that fit their specific needs to the letter and leverage cutting-edge technology. Manufacturing companies are responding with shorter and shorter product cycles and lead times.
To maintain cost-effective production operations in spite of these factors, such firms now need to achieve a consistently high level of capacity utilization in cycle-based planning and minimize operational disruptions.
By planning and assigning a variety of products to each individual production line, the CONSILIO solution, implemented at Daimler AG, ensures that all of the workstations along a line – particularly the potential bottlenecks – are utilized as evenly as possible without conflicting with the defined cycles.
The primary tool for load-balancing analysis over the medium term is its sequence planning board.
This board displays all of the key parameters involved, including deadlines, component availability, technical production feasibility, and assigned characteristic evaluation. Order volumes can be planned manually or automatically by using heuristics or the optimizer which takes active restrictions into account. Once an order sequence has been created, the solution assigns unique sequence numbers and passes the sequence on to the shop floor.
The CONSILIO solution is based on SAP ERP and SAP SCM.
In addition to classic functions like work centers, routings, bill of materials and production orders, it incorporates demand planning and the model mix planning feature of SAP’s automotive solution.
