The digitization of Europe, the competitiveness of an entire continent in the digital world - this was the core topic at the Switzerland Summit at CeBIT Global Conferences 2016.
The digital transformation and the Digital Single Market is not only important for the members of the European Union, but also for close partners such as Switzerland. This was clearly demonstrated at CeBIT Summit Switzerland.
An exciting discussion about the digital future was triggered as a result of introductory speeches by Federal Education Minister Prof. Dr. Johanna Wanka and Johann N. Schneider-Ammann, President of the Swiss Confederation.
"We haven’t lost yet, even if we may have lost the first half of digitization", was the opinion of all stakeholders. For example, by Bitkom President Thorsten Dirks, who said: "We must work hard to win the second half."
Another finding: To successfully put a counterweight against the United States and China, one must transform not only digital and imitate the leading industry in the US, but also reflect on European qualities, for example, broad-based education. Therefore Minister Johanna Wanka also called for long-term investment in education and research.
