If you have a reasonably modern automobile, you’ll know that even mechanics in workshops are often left high and dry without the aid of electronic diagnostics systems. At the rate things are going, vehicles are becoming more and more like IT hubs on wheels every day. German specialist LAUNCH Europe is among the software and hardware engineers making the most of this development to install virtual workshops on smartphones and tablets. Visitors can check out its "golo CarCare" remote diagnostics system at CeBIT 2015 in Hannover.

The "golo CarCare" plug fits most OBD2 sockets to transmit the fault's error code to the driver’s workshop. There, the mechanics can use their X-431 PRO analysis software to check the fault on a tablet and provide specific instructions. LAUNCH is also exhibiting its EasyDiag adapter app, which allows more mechanically minded drivers to perform their own analyses.
