For Oliver Frese, the Deutsche Messe AG Board Member responsible for CeBIT, Jack Ma's guest appearance isn't just confirmation of the fair’s international standing – it also ensures an exciting and powerful launch for a successful event. By delivering the opening speech to 2,500 invited guests, the founder of Alibaba joins an exclusive list of high-profile industry speakers. In 2014, for instance, the fair was opened by Prof. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management at Volkswagen AG. The year before it was Thomas Enders, CEO of Airbus Group, and in 2012 it was Eric Schmidt, Executive Chairman of Google, who presented his plans for the company to invited guests at the Hannover Congress Center.

Founded by Jack Ma in 1999, the Alibaba Group grew at record speed to become the world’s leading company for online and mobile commerce. The Group and its member companies now operate leading online marketplaces for wholesale and retail as well as online advertising and marketing platforms. At this year’s CeBIT in Hannover, Alibaba is also showcasing services for electronic payment systems, cloud computing, network services and a range of mobile solutions.
