CeBIT opening on 05 March 2012
Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff is also expected to speak at the ceremony on 5 March. "We are very happy to have Eric Schmidt as the keynote speaker" said Frank Pörschmann, Senior Vice President of CeBIT at Deutsche Messe, on the evening of 11 January in Las Vegas, adding, "As executive chairman of the Google board of directors Schmidt is among the international ICT industry's most influential players. Under his leadership Google has gone from an ambitious university project to a global enterprise. An audience of 2,000 guests is eagerly awaiting his visions for tomorrow's digital industry and networked society." In addition Google will exhibit within several sectors at CeBIT 2012.

Eric Schmidt was made CEO of Google by the company's founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, in 2001. On 4 April 2011 he transferred to Google's Board of Directors, in which capacity he continues to advise and represent the company.
