The CeBIT Webciety Conference, which will be held from 6 to 10 March 2012, is themed "Designing the Web Operating System. "It will focus on the changes that are transforming the Web into an "operating system" for a whole range of business processes and models and enabling us to conduct many of our daily activities online. The Webciety is no longer a vision for the future. It is already a central part of our economic and societal processes and is taking on an important if not vital role in more and more areas of our lives. For proof of this, one need only call to mind the online integration of everyday items like sports shoes and hi-fi equipment, the use of Cloud technologies to integrate external resources into internal business processes, or the exponential growth of social networking. "Comprising a conference program and exhibition area, the CeBIT Webciety event is a core part of our CeBIT pro segment. It is where the Facebook generation meets up with online entrepreneurs and corporate IT people, discusses visions for the future and presents solutions for the modern phenomenon of IT consumerization,"Deutsche Messe's Senior Vice-President in charge of CeBIT, Frank Pörschmann, said.
Featuring some 40 themed group discussions and more than 100 panelists, the Conference is the nerve center of the CeBIT Webciety exhibition area in Hall 6. Conference highlights include keynote addresses by JP Rangaswami, Chief Scientist at salesforce.com, and David Cushman, a Managing Director at 90:10 Group. There will also be a panel discussion on the regulatory framework for the Internet sector, featuring representatives of the German Parliamentary Commission of Enquiry into the Internet and Digital Society.
There will be papers and presentations on key technology trends, such as content targeting, augmented reality, location-based services, eCommerce, Cloud security and social business. Among the core discussion topics will be the process-related challenges involved in creating a "Web operating system"that can deliver services which run in realtime and which are data-driven, context-related and easy to use. The Conference program also includes discussion on new digital business models and the ways in which they are changing our economy and society. The discussion will explore these models and changes from a range of perspectives, including the CeBIT 2012 lead theme, "Managing Trust."
The lectures, papers and panel discussions at the CeBIT Webciety Conference will be supported by an array of interactive events and zones, including the Seedlounge @ CeBIT. The Conference is also the venue for a range of award ceremonies, including the prize giving for the BITKOM Innovators' Pitch and the European Seal of e-Excellence.
The BITKOM Innovators' Pitch 2012 is a competition for the best and most promising digital life innovations. Young entrepreneurs are invited to submit solutions from a range of areas, such as networked entertainment, smart living, mobile payment and social media. Entries close on 31 January 2012.
