This is the place where providers and users come together to do business in a setting where the latest products and solutions for Tracking & Tracing, Fleet Management, Driver Assistance, Navigation, Communications and Information are presented.
Telematics combines telecommunications, information technology and navigation. Wireless data transfer already plays a significant role in fleet management and traffic coordination, mainly based on GPS and GPRS. Experts estimate the economic potential of satellite positioning and navigation technology in Europe at a minimum of €70 billion annually. One trend is obvious: mobile telematics based on smartphones and tablet computers to save money on expensive hardware investments.
The Telematics & Automotive area showcases the latest products and solutions for tracking & tracing, vehicle communication, transport and logistics, driver assistance and navigation - the entire spectrum of efficient, secure and environmentally aware transportation systems.
Several special events round out the program. The Destination ITS area offers an overview of intelligent transportation systems and services (ITS). One highlight at the CeBIT in Motion forum in Hall 11 is the "Telematics pitch": On 7 March this live competition offers young entrepreneurs the chance to present new business models in intelligent transportation systems. A free M2M conference is also held in the forum - as a complement to the M2M Zone joint stand in Hall 12.
