CeBIT 2011, Smart Home

Saving energy costs, using different devices or media interactively, and making life more secure and convenient as a result – that is intelligent living. According to a study by the BITKOM industry association, the market for networked IT, telecommunications and consumer electronics in Germany grew to €16 billion in 2011 – a 28-percent increase over 2010. Michael Schidlack, BITKOM expert for home networking, sees the end of an island existence for televisions, washing machines and lighting approaching: “Interest in smart home solutions is rising.”

Networking living spaces is a cutting-edge theme in the ICT industry. The Smart Home area at CeBIT sheds light on this topic from every side. The exhibitor area in Hall 13 showcases new products, services and technologies. The Smart Home forum (Stand A53) serves as a communication platform for all those who want to discuss home networking. Here, industry experts offer insights into energy management, integrated total solutions and new business models. The forum also provides support for finding new cooperation partners and ideas for new business models.

Special Displays & Forums

Smart Home Forum

In the newly created specialist forum, we pick up the current market trends for the following target groups: trade, craft, architecture, construction industry, system integrators, providers as well as techno-savvy consumers.

A high point of the forum program is on 7 March 2012, when BITKOM hosts the Retail Summit: “Does a new market require new sales approaches?” is the core question under discussion. The second panel addresses new business models for trade and craft, and training and further education are the focus of the third panel and the podium discussion that follows. A new market does need workers with new skills.
