Future market: Megacities
With its new Urban Solutions exhibitor area in Hall 11, CeBIT gov turns its attention to the megacities of the future. The focus is on intelligent ICT solutions and infrastructures which can be used by modern cities to meet the multiple challenges of increased urbanization.
Factors such as growing urbanization, climate change and the increasing demand for energy and resources are creating a need for new, efficient IT infrastructures, which can help us to get to grips with these difficult and complex problem areas.
Today, around half of the world's population already lives in cities. By 2015, there will be 22 megacities with populations greater than 10 million. The ICT challenges that result are in numerous areas, from water management to secure communication networks. One of the largest challenges is to intelligently connect fast-growing volumes of data. The Urban Solutions exhibitor area offers the ideal platform for presenting the full spectrum of concepts and innovations for tomorrow's urban information processes.
Competition: High-tech solutions for the city of tomorrow
The high-tech association BITKOM and CeBIT trade fair are holding the first Urban Solutions Pitch. The goal of the competition is to identify lighthouse projects by suppliers and users who are developing or already implementing high-tech solutions for the small and large cities of tomorrow. Examples include ICT solutions for more efficient management of complex, urban infrastructures and technologies that help conserve resources. The exhibit will be complemented by a high-quality forum where experts from all over the world will present reference projects and explain the interaction between various technologies in the context of urban solutions. The conference-style, openly-structured forum presents a toolbox with application orientated solutions and approaches for different topic areas in the context of smart municipal infrastructures: like supply, disposal, environment protection, mobility and logistics, communication data security, privacy, E-government, public security, education, health and prevention.
Each conference day puts the focus onto one main topic. The Forum is structured in keynotes, technical presentations and panel discussions. During the conference visitors might interact with experts from all over the world, discussing the challenges for municipal infrastructures.
