He began his career at Alcatel SEL in Stuttgart in 1991 as a project engineer in the Switching Systems department. In 1995, he was made assistant to the Communications Systems department manager.
From 1997 to 2002 he bore the primary responsibility for Alcatel SEL's major customer Deutsche Telekom, first as Key Account Manager, then as Global Account Manager.
In 2002, Wulf served as Executive Vice President for Sales and Marketing in the Europe and South sales region in the group's headquarters in Paris.
In August 2003, he became a member of the business management of Alcatel Deutschland GmbH and the board of Alcatel SEL AG. Wulf was also made Executive Vice President Marketing and Sales responsible for Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and Central Asia.
On 1 April 2006, Wulf was named Deputy Chairman of Alcatel SEL AG and Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Alcatel Deutschland GmbH.
Alf Henryk Wulf has held the positions of Chairman of the Management Board of Alcatel-Lucent Deutschland AG and President of the Management of Alcatel-Lucent Holding GmbH since 1 January 2009.
Since January 2011 he is additionally in charge of "Customer Unit Central Europe". Besides the Germany Business he is also accountable for the Sales-, Presales, Postsales- and Marketing activities in Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
He is also accountable for Alcatel-Lucent's worldwide business relationship with Deutsche Telekom.
