CeBIT has addressed the keynote theme of ‘Managing Trust’ at just the right time, successfully putting these issues firmly on the international agenda. CeBIT exhibitors effectively demonstrated that the industry was, matching words with deeds, successfully translating the debate into real products and solutions. 'Managing Trust' was the keynote theme across the board - at the event'’s Opening Ceremony as well as at the CeBIT Global Conferences, the event's more than 1,500 seminars and workshops, and at exhibitor stands themselves.
Germany'’s Consumer Affairs Minister Ilse Aigner launched a new Web portal addressing the issue of Internet safety for children and young people. The new portal also provides a competent source of advice and support for youthful victims of online bullying. Another highlight was the joint announcement by the BITKOM high-tech association and the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) of plans to forge a 'cyber-security alliance'.
More than 130 business and political delegations from around the world followed the CeBIT call to debate the key issues of trust and security in a digital world, among them EU commissioners Neelie Kroes and Viviane Reding.
