Over many decades, government and private-sector representatives from both nations have built a very close and constructive relationship which has been instrumental in the enormous progress enjoyed by Brazil’s industrial base since the second half of the 20th century. Brazil's close involvement in CeBIT 2012 heralds a new phase in this partnership.
Information and communication technologies (ICT) have led to a worldwide revolution in the way we manufacture, trade and communicate. The ICT sector is boosting efficiency and transparency in all parts of society and is opening up new ways of accessing information and knowledge. It also has a key strategic role to play in Brazil's sustainable development program, which aims to reconcile economic growth with social participation and respect for the environment.
To achieve its objective of intensifying research and development in the ICT sector, Brazil has invested heavily in science and education, technology and innovation. And to make access to ICT more democratic, we have developed political strategies for e-Government, digital inclusion, broadband infrastructure expansion and affordable hardware and equipment.
At this year's CeBIT, Brazil will showcase its expertise in developing innovative products and processes. I cordially invite all industry professionals at the show to see for themselves the progress that we have made and to explore partnerships with the numerous Brazilian companies and public institutions what will be represented at the fair.
