The following special highlights were covered at future parc during CeBIT 2009:

Semantic worlds: The Internet of Things
Semantic search technology represents the next giant step in the development of the Internet, since it offers an opportunity to better understand and interpret the mass of data residing there. Semantic search understands the user’s needs.

THESEUS
THESEUS is the name of a research program initiated by the German Federal Ministry for Economics and Technology (BMWi). The focus of the program is on semantic technologies which can deduce the content (words, images, sounds) not by employing conventional methods (e.g. recognition of letter combinations), but rather by recognizing and classifying the semantic content of the information involved. This technology enables computer programs to intelligently interpret the context in which data was stored.

Green IT The Green IT Village at future parc evolved into its own Green IT World in Hall 8 - a special display featuring environmentally-friendly ICT innovations. Green IT World showcased concrete solution approaches and concepts for the sustainable future involving the deployment of intelligent ICT technologies.

Service robots
Service robots, as opposed to industrial robots, perform services for people. Interaction between robots and humans is the goal here, as these robots are designed to support people in a wide range of household and other tasks.
