We are the Net - and the Net is everywhere!

At CeBIT, the new "Internet & Mobile Solutions" category in Hall 6 gave real insight into how the Internet is changing our lives. 130 companies presented their solutions for online business on an area of 4,000 sqm. With the spotlight firmly trained on the key area of digitization and mobility, numerous innovations were on show in the Digital Media Solutions (online publishing, web TV), Web-based Solutions (eCommerce and online marketing solutions, web content management, etc.) and Enterprise Mobility (mobile Internet, mobile office) sections.

CeBIT 2009 made the Internet society its central focus in the form of Webciety (an amalgamation of "web" and "society").

The Webciety Area gave exhibitors a new opportunity to showcase their business-centric web applications and business models in a digital "home base" (simply connect your notebook and you're ready to go!). This concept developed specially for Internet companies succeeded in creating a thoroughly unique atmosphere featuring the "walk-in" Internet.

The Webciety Forum also proved a star attraction for visitors. The forum's top-notch program brought together a selection of very different formats, including business talks, discussions, Pecha Kucha, open stage events and much more. Topics from across the entire Internet & Mobile Solutions spectrum were presented and discussed, including Enterprise Collaboration, Cloud Computing, the Future of eCommerce and Media 2.0. The program's highlights included a session with Chairman of Intel Craig R. Barrett and a lecture entitled "5 Myths of the Change of Organizations" delivered by Clay Shirky, author and professor at New York University. What's more, these topics succeeded in generating major interest beyond the walls of the exhibition center itself - with 27,000 live streaming hits, it was clear the online community was also keen to get involved! In addition, the event also inspired lively discussions on Twitter, with Webciety racking up 12,000 tweets during the course of CeBIT.

The CeBIT Global Conferences always feature leading representatives of the ICT industry - and 2009 was no exception. With the Conferences also reflecting the Webciety theme, prominent figures such as Reid Hoffman (Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of LinkedIn), Dr. Werner Vogels (Vice President & Chief Technology Officer of Amazon.com) and Marco Börries (Executive Vice President of Connected Life Yahoo! Inc.) came together to discuss "Webciety - The Internet as the heartbeat of modern society". The Webciety guided tour proved to be one of the most popular tours on offer.

We would like to extend our thanks to all exhibitors, partners and visitors. We look forward to working with you in the future in developing and designing the "Internet & Mobile Solutions" and "Webciety" areas for CeBIT 2010!
